Interstate highways converge on Charlotte from all surrounding states, and the Atlanta to Greensboro I-85 interstate runs within a few hundred yards of Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). There is also a fairly substantial road route to downtown Charlotte from the airport, along the Wilkinson Boulevard, leading to the I-277 interstate (John Belk Freeway).

Other notable roads close to Charlotte Airport include the I-485 interstate (Seddon Rusty Goode Junior Freeway) and the Wallace Neel Road to the west, the Billy Graham Parkway to the east, and the Paul Brown Boulevard and Yorkmount Road to the south, which leads to the Express Drive. To the north, the RC Josh Birmingham Parkway is sited off the Airport Drive and the Rental Car Road.




Directions to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) from the north:
  • Take the I-77 interstate south towards the city
  • Head southwest on the I-85 before reaching Charlotte
  • Take Exit 32 after a few miles onto Little Rock Road for the airport

Directions to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) from the south:

  • Head north on the I-77 interstate from all points south
  • Take Exit 6B onto West Woodlawn Road (northwest), which merges with Billy Graham Parkway for the airport

Directions to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) from the east:

  • Take the I-277 interstate and Wilkinson Boulevard (Highway 74) west
  • Continue west on Highway 74 and then take a left onto Boyer Street south and Billy Graham Parkway west for the airport

Directions to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) from the west:

  • Take the I-85 interstate east on a heading for Charlotte
  • Take Exit 32 south onto Little Rock Road for the airport

Interstates 77 and 277 can become particularly busy during morning and afternoon rush hours, along with Wilkinson Boulevard and Billy Graham Parkway. It may therefore be necessary to leave a little earlier.
